Friday's Frock {Dancing girl}

Oh dear! Here comes another apology about my lack of posts...I've been spinning in circles settling into new routines and ticking off my check list lately. Things are happening slowly but surely - setting the mood for this Friday Frock post. When things go right (as they are), the tiny little dancer within (moi) pulls up the leg warmers and pops up to do its little hop, skip and a pirouette calling for a post filled with pretty tutus and celebratory balloons!

Ankle flasher

Socks play an incredibly important role in a man’s life  Oscar Wilde

Whilst lunching with a friend one recent afternoon my eyes took a little wander around this eatery in Melbourne's Greville St. when BAM, these eyes stuck like glue to this swanky lookin' lad leaning over iPad, stained espresso cup and scribbled notepad. It wasn't his purple checked shirt rolled at the wrist displaying a heavy-weight labeled timepiece that got my attention. Nor was it his black rimmed, tortoise-inner specs framing him with that bold sophistication. Surrounded by a sea of grey socked business men, it was his bright purple clad ankles that got me!

How foolish I was to be judging a lad by his shoe all this time! I realise, now, it's the sock that counts - If it ain't bright, it just ain't right! I am now SOLD on the new essential wardrobe extra. It's interesting how the addition/omission of a detailed item can change your look entirely...Thanks to Happy Socks, we can all look as snazzed as that lad.

V-Day

via wedfully
Valentines day - For or against? I tend to sway between the two arguments. I love the idea of an excuse to show a little more love yet I can't quite agree with the commercial hype that comes with it. Either way, this is  a fabulous day to highlight ones (mine) single status - and the perfect excuse to sprinkle my day with a lil' love for moi with a lazy morning coffee and a pinch of retail therapy! Why not?

Happy Love Day to us all! xox

Friday's Frock {The new black}

My blog is in need of some serious TLC - it's been far too long between posts and visits to my favourite blogs (sorry). Life has thrown a few interesting twists and turns these past few weeks. As I'm carrying on with that finger-crossed-hope for a little job love to come my way (asap please) I've been taking some time to enjoy the sights, sounds, and happenings around town, not to mention some of the best eats, friend accompanied moments and caffeine hits I've had in a long time/possibly ever (more to be said about this soon). Till then here's a little Valentines inspired fashion - this punchy tone is what I've spotted popping out from fashion racks all over town (together with a natural palate of nude and gold). Said to be the 'new black' (I'm still unsure how Melbournites can compromise from sporting uber chic black layers), the warmth of red is believed to give strength and a pioneering spirit...just what I'm after! Happy weekend!

Poetic Licence

Anyone else inspired by the eclectic mix of interior styles, periods and colours influencing today's design world? A nosey through belle magazine introduced me to this lavishly designed apartment and the two design masters responsible for such beauty - Michael Coorengel & Jean-Pierre Calvagrac. These self labeled "architectural poets" believe in the story to be told by a room, the furniture, colours and textiles - each room in the apartment is decorated with individual colour and furniture themes, contrast, shades and a mix of antique, modern and 50's vintage. At first, their magnificent design can seem extravagant, loud and cluttered. After considering Michael and Jean-Pierre's opinion on their ability to 'play' with mathematical balances to create a less showy, classical interior you can then begin to appreciate the softness, class and elegance of it all. [More]

Michael and Jean-Pierre's apartment on Paris' Rue de l'Echiquier makes it a tad easier to visualise my tiny studio's grand dreams...
