Capital Kitchen

Breakfast at Capital Kitchen on the weekend with my girliefriend Clare. This was one of our least photogenic days but I had to show you the smiles this place left on our noggins. Lounging at our private little white-washed table with Capital Kitchen's brick exposed walls and perfect colour palette (white, yellow & grey) all 'round, we nibbled our way through the simplest brekky (toast and jam) feeling like we were indulging in such a treat. It was all ultra moreish - inspired by it all, I tried my hand at food photography. Have to admit I'm a little proud of my toast picture. Fair to say, this place is topping our list of brekky/brunch spots. It's not just the delicious looking eats available that make it so good. After two coffees and 3 goss-hours later, we spent what was left of a beautiful morning checking out the Kitchen's home decor store. It's got everything but the kitchen sink.

Hot air

taken by my iPhone - again, please excuse the poor clarity. This is the view from my studio early AM. See those things spotting the sky? They're hot air balloons (they appear further away than what they really are). It doesn't matter how many times I see them, when I wake up to balloons floating by my window I always (yes, always) get this ridiculous ear-to-ear grin. I don't know why they make me so happy... how can you look at them and not feel like you must stop and
smell the roses!

The Candy Room

images taken by my iPhone - apologies for the poor clarity.
This place exists in Melbourne's CBD. The Candy Room could take your fancy if you were addicted to the sugar eats it stocks...or you'd be back again and again to take in the total experience. Toying with the concept of illusion and drawing your inner kid out, Red Design has reason for cheer with it's playful design and well branded and packaged treats. Stretching the 'rules' of the August Break, I'm including some better quality photos (not taken by my phone) to do this post justice.

The August Break

via
I'm a tad late to jump on board with this but am going to give it a go. I came across this great idea over at Hearted Girl. The plan for the August Break is that you simply share one photo (or more!) per day on your blog – Monday to Friday, or every day. Susannah Conway, the lady behind the great idea, already has 782 members (me being the 783rd).  I'm looking forward to it...I always end up with photos of something that inspired me that day but rarely find the words to make it blog worthy. So, here goes. I'll be posting from 29 Aug - 4 Sept.

Friday's Frock

Righto. Let me just pick myself up off the floor...again. This wedding has taken every decent descriptive from my gob. I don't know what I can tell you about this except that I should try to warn you on what you're about to see - Absolute perfection. With all the right details, colours and an intimate ceremony set up in a 16th-century convent in Zacatecas, Mexico, this (real) wedding is...just...perfect. Is this not one of the most (or second to your big day) achingly beautiful weddings you've seen? I want it...maybe not now as Im a long way off marriage with groom not yet present, but when the day happens I think I'm sold on colour palette, styling and of course a ceremony in Mexico wouldn't hurt. Hope you enjoy this as much as I did.

For something borrowed the bride wore her paternal grandmother's silver bracelet from Zacatecas and for something old she wore her great-grandmothers pearl ring. My heart just skipped a beat...

You must want to see more!

Love me two times

via

If you remember Some Days are Diamonds, you'd be familiar with the talent of Kirra JamisonLove me two times is her latest series to dazzle Melbourne's Linden Centre for Contemporary Art display. Colour, elegance, balance, it's got it all in my eyes. Kirra's outrageous talent is behind the rest of this work if you're interested to take a peek.

Speaking of sneaky peeks, wouldn't you want to know if Kirra's Melbourne home is dressed as pretty as her colour filled canvases? With light filled space, art-work everywhere you look and pooch Tallulah making itself at home, seems this place is everything we hoped it would be. Go on, take a squiz.

Polo who?

via
Word is, another bunch of business cards are on order for Ralph Lauren. Last week shareholders gave a big nod to the change for the brand to drop 'Polo' from its name. This will enable Ralph Lauren, as it will now be known, to take on its worldwide expansion and tighten its image across all sub-groups. Just a little FYI to kick the week off...

Mapped out

Still want to see more?

Yanko Tsvetkov - the man behind the maps.
Shrewd and not at all politically correct, each picture speaks volumes (more than words should, would you agree?) about the stereotypes held by different nationalities. Massive generalisations, of course...ehhm.

Friday's Frock

via
The rules have changed for Melbourne's black donned army of fashionistas. Since Zara (recently) opened it's doors with explosions of girlie, bold, playful pops of colour lining every rack, it's impossible to resist the urge to break up a (my) wardrobe offering every tone of black and grey imaginable. Can't think of anything better...just check out the fun Anna Dello Russo is havin'!
