Be Realistic Demand the Impossible

As I have been the most realistic I've ever been and demanded only the most impossible, life has taken this punchy, bumper ride...and still swerving to it's destination. As a result, Shade of Whim (and my list of favourite blogs) has copped a lack of love from me, but I've been itching to get back to it. Mid spin in what's been a battle with my time and a 24-hour clock, an incredibly kind gesture had me stuck in my tracks. And then another, and another. This girl was one of the lovelies to send me an email of "hello and where are you?" that made me burst with a ridiculous ear-to-ear grin! Thank you Lynn xo. My point? 

You'd be bang-on suggesting Shade of Whim doesn’t have a list of followers to brag about. But, what it does have is a whole lot more spesh, and something that I've really missed. It has these wonderful lades (Lynn being one of them) who have kindly added themselves to a little list of followers who take the time to read the words that drive my world and leave this incredible splash of kindness my way week after week.

So, I'm delighted (as happy as them jolly slacks!) to get back into tapping away at this little blog. I'd hate to leave it behind. Fair to say, I never expected this creative little outlet I discovered during those cold wintry months (2010) to become such a great part of my life.  It has literally unravelled this wonderful web (world) that has me doing, seeing, communicating and discovering all that I’ve wanted.

...and before I could blink, Friday is back on my doorstep! A week whirled by with its usual bits and pieces to keep me busy with an added extra dash of wonderful reading, blogs, and thoughts. This blog, one of my bookmarked favourites, ignited that inspiration and lets face it, confidence, to post away at something I've had sitting around in draft for some time.

It's all about that sparkle within. Dreamy, fluffy stuff right? Yup, it is...but I mean it in the most down-to-earth, realistic kinda way. After catching Oprah's last Hurrah as The Queen of daytime talk shows, I was quite seriously moved. Her show (I must admit I was never a regular viewer) had nothing to do with planes rolling into the studio, car giveaways, or loaded with the usual Oprah vocals. Instead she stood centre stage delivering a simple message with some serious backbone. The delivery was  quite something. It was all about our passion in life and how essential living with this spark within us is. By living it, she said, is when we make the difference we were set out to achieve. Her words and encouragement to pursue 'it' (whether it makes us millions or not) and shine on our very own stage got me thinking. I am and always will be (I can't imagine why not) driven by my passion - whether it be the people in my life, the things I do, what I believe in.

I had a moment of deepest gratitude for my blessings (universal offerings, whatever your beliefs may be) to firstly HAVE a passion let alone the opportunity to grab it by the guts and PURSUE it! Don't know about you, but I can't think of anything better than to live a life filled with something so great it hurts...the fulfilment, that is. So, my point? Albeit a little wishy-washy, as Oprah said it's all about knowing what you're meant to be doing (and doing it) to be happiest, focused and most successful. You can then make a true difference, whether you touch millions, a handful or just one with your 'light'... Whether or not I got the message across, I guess the main thing I was dying to say was how wonderful and powerful that little thing that makes us giddy can be - passion. Have a wonderful weekend!

I don't know about you but when the drizzly, dark days of winter settle in for a good few months I have to keep these less-than-chirpy feelings at bay. Today was a piece of cake thanks to this wonderful blog and a quote to kick my butt into gear. Enjoy your weekend! I hope it's nothing short of amazing!

It's Friday...without a frock

It's Friday. Normally 'Friday's Frock' at SoW but today I'm standing in one of Melbourne's chilly (understatement) lane way cafes and inspired by my latte's cup. Morning coffees have turned slightly educational thanks to the cup project. Through the month of feb and beyond (it's now may) the profiles and work of young, emerging, local artists will be published on takeaway coffee cups. Melbourne's CBD *Sensory Lab is all over it...you could go and order one of their punchy specialty grinds and get a cup of your own, or you could head here where all the good stuff is at!
* Sensory Lab - another one of the Melbourne cafe joints looking the part in the scene of raw, 'rustic' appeal. This one actually plays the part! Peep inside and you'll see their world of communal seating, fresh baked goods in wood framed glass boxes, lab bottles for H2O, a separate set up for coffee specialties to be brewed, poured and infused. These guys just know what they're on about...

Some time out from my blog wasn't really planned for but much, much needed. Keeping me a busy little gal has been my current work assignment, twinkling my toes through a paso doble and planning a trip back home to my family I'm missing terribly.

What a bumper couple of weeks! And there's something even better around the corner...I don't know what just yet but I can feel it in my bones. I'm restless in my sleep with the anticipation of one of those days springing up on me. One of those days will be a diamond, just as Kirra Jamison's artwork suggests! More to come of Kirra's work too...
