Stella Ad

via

Stella McCartney's Spring/Summer 2012 campaign featured a wowzer of a floral-embrace and supermodel / McCartney's gal-pal Natalia Vodianova to boot! Vodianova did her thing in two of the pieces from the collection; the ink Paisley print shirt and trousers, and the Fitzroy dress with 3-D embroidered edging.

Prop Stylin'

via
This Monday morning was in desperate, desperate need of some sweetenin' when Bam! Robyn Glaser's portfolio found its way onto my browser with these beautifully balanced editorial spreads of her prop styling. This sure gave me something to smile about, not to mention wanting some heavy bangs again. A standout in my eyes was Robyn's Kate Spade editorial, steeling a good few minutes of this morning's lull. Here's to a Monday saver and a sticky beak at some chic accessories!

Chanel/Resort 2012

In Lagerfeld's (wise?) words on his Resort 2012 collection for Chanel, "...One has to dress to match the yachts. It cannot be sloppy. But I didn't want to do anything retro. People have never had as much money here as they do at the moment, and this is about how to spend your money but spend it in style." And so, this exquisite collection results; of mimosa-yellow, purple tweed, handsomely suited lads and vivid prints reminiscent of the early blooms spreading through the South of France. Lagerfeld's play on contrasting textures, classics, whimsical gowns, liberally pinned details and a black sheer, enchanting piece to close his parade sets the bar beyond any ready-to-wear I have laid eyes upon.

I'm not kidding when I say these few links have just the right ingredients to make Mr Boss Man think you're all-things-focused and on the ball this hump day! No need to thank me. Thank Swiss Legacy, the initiative of Art Director Xavior Encinas. Focusing on typography, Swiss graphic design and inspirational happenings, this collaborative blog oozes all that epitomises Swiss design and typographic style. Cleanliness and objectivity shine through with use of sans-serif, grid and the hallmark of flush-left and ragged right text. Enjoy.

Hip hip hurrah!

via - check it out. this delish little cupcake recipe awaits!
Happy Birthday and wonderful-day-wishes to my beautiful MUM. Without her inspiration, support, influence, care, shoulder to lean on, friendship, guidance, famous cheesecake, quirky sense of humour, and love of less than subtly coloured pants, my life wouldn't have anything close to the sparkle it holds today. We each claim the right to label our mums with "the best mum in the world" tag, and rightly so. Loving, supportive and always there to brighten up our days. So, on that note, chin chin to the "best mum in the world" and her sparklin'-bright year ahead. x

Happy Birthday Mum!!!

The Wallpaper* Edit

via
The Handmade issue of Wallpaper* is back. With a bang. A step away from the usual design work I post about, this stitched brilliance took my fancy - part of the showcase at this year's Salone del Mobile.

When the world's masters of design, craftsmanship and manufacturing are together in the same place at the same time, something sublime results. Just check how Wallpaper*'s Handmade 2011 issue was upped a notch.  Making front page with 420gsm white watercolour paper, five colours of cotton thread, and a heck of a lot of talent, was the stitched beauty by Peter Crawley. Aside from this boy obviously having aced home economics, he's collaborated with some top illustrators and design buffs to create some more heavenly thread-work.

Happy weekend vibes to all. Thanks for visiting and taking a sec to read about these talented folk. x

45 grams of Silence

via

FLOWmarket is the one-of-a-kind store that recognises our immaterial needs whilst designing each product to make us consumers think a little harder about how we consume, think and live.  Since 2004, Mads Hagstrom (the brains behind the design and creation of these beauties) has managed to get the noggins of consumers across Copenhagen, Zurich, New York, Taipei, Shanghai, Singapore and Seoul working in overdrive. Successfully crossing cultural boundaries, Mads has spread the FLOWmarket word and addressed the imbalance of personal, collective and environmental flows through physical product. Smarty pants.

Black is the New Black

jak & jil blog
Just as I thought I was taming my blogging addiction during work hours, I popped on over to Jak & Jil! Bad Move! On a positive note? I got the heads-up to winter wardrobe essentials. It seems my wardrobe of black basics will need its dry-cleaned threads ready for action when the high winter calls for a blackbone to keep yours truly looking the part. As much as I'm enjoying splashing a hint of colour on my hangers, I just can't shake the love for threads of noir! Call me weird, call me boring, tell me black isn't the answer to the world's slimming secrets. I'm still gonna be cheerin' on for a little reunion with this classic, bold tone of all tones!
p.s. Happy hump day!
